Rise was founded by Hollywood Filmmaker Kurt Tuffendsam and several veteran missionaries to mobilize and inspire the next generation, through the language of film narrative, to find their role in the great commission. Each issue of Rise Video Magazine will reveal through story and human struggle the unique expressions of the Glory of God among cultures and people groups vastly different from our own.

Our goal is to see hundreds of thousands of believers rise up to the challenge of finishing the task, to carry the Gospel to all tribes, tongues, and nations, and to provide resources for advancement in strategic holistic frontier missions.

Kurt has spent the last ten years working in the mainstream entertainment industry. His experience as a producer, post supervisor and editor of feature films has prepared him to meet the great demand for quality storytelling in the medium of film for global Kingdom advancement. Through established relationships with vendors and crew in Los Angeles, Kurt is uniquely able to involve other successful Hollywood filmmakers in the production of Rise films.

Rise is based at the US Center for World Mission in Pasadena,CA where we are able to combine the strengths of the worldwide mission community, resources available through the USCWM, and some of the most prolific missiology of our day with our mobilization efforts. We aim to represent the broadest possible expressions of the body of Christ in our stories by collaborating with missionaries from a wide range of Christian denominations, bringing unity and strength to the worldwide Church.
